Hi I’m Carla Mitchell, a 31-year-old wedding photographer living in what I think is the most spectacular place in the world, Queenstown, New Zealand.
My fav things include hiking in my ever amazing backyard and forever finding new epic places. Snowboarding and thinking I’m a mad dog when I hit the tiniest of jumps. Going out for long Sunday brunch with the girls. Being a tourist, exploring new places, eating and drinking their cuisine and going snap happy crazy!
I love my job and think I am so blessed to meet awesome couples from all over the world and capture their love amongst epic backdrops. Nothing makes me happier than frolicking in the mountains and documenting a whole lotta love. I love meeting couples who are consumed with their love, who are okay to jump fences and get their dress and suit a little dirty if it means an epic view at the end, and whose story is an adventure in itself.
When shooting a wedding I try be as unobtrusive as possible, aiming to create raw and authentic images that are full of love. When you look back on your photos, I want you to remember how you felt, rather than some uncomfortable pose. I want to document you in your rawest form.
During weddings, you will often find me lying on a dirt road, climbing mountains up to my waist in snow or accidentally walking backwards into a swamp, all to get the perfect shot.
