What is your style?

I love documentary photography, and I will approach your wedding in that way. But when I take your portraits, I will give you some direction to help with poses that are the most flattering. I am here to make you look good.

Can I give you a list of specific shots we like?

Absolutely, but this is not necessary. Keep in mind that I am not looking to outright copy other photographers in their work, but prefer to have creative control. That said, I’m all for shooting a few ideas you have if I haven’t already photographed them!
Although defiantly give me a list of any specific guests you want to have a photo of/with (this can be for group portraits or anytime) as you would hate to regret not having it further down the track.

Can you Photoshop us to look skinnier/have clearer skin?

I edit every single image that I hand back to you and it will be edited the same as what you see on my website. I give you about 75% in colour and 25% in black and white (give or take). I do not Photoshop or liquify bodies nor do I superimpose images. Basic touch ups are made only when something is extremely obtrusive to the imagery. If you require further touch ups to your images, this can be done for an additional price on a picture by picture basis. I want to focus on making you feel beautiful, rather than look unrealistic.

Should we book a helicopter for photos?

I strongly suggest you do a heli flight to make your day a truely amazing experience! Helicopters are a great way to capture New Zealand's most unique locations and stunning views, therefore awesome photos! If you would like some suggestions on places to fly and prices just let me know.

What happens if the weather is bad?

We can reschedule if weather is really that awful, but some of my favourite sessions ever have been in rain/hail/snow storms!
Embracing the weather makes for incredible photos. The only times I’ve rescheduled shoots due to weather is if my camera will be ruined by the weather or if we are planning to have a heli ride and it’s not safe to fly. We will make the decision together
whether we need to reschedule or not.

When and how will I recieve my photos?

This depends very much on what time of the year you get married in, and how many other shoots I am working on simultaneously. I do put a lot of time and care into editing my pictures, and the process can thus take some time.
While it can take up to 10 weeks in high season, I do always make a point of sending out some sneak peeks less than a week after your wedding so you can have a taster!
Smaller shoots such as engagements can take up to 4 weeks.

Do you mind working with a Videographer?

Not at all! As long as your videographer respects the visual space (ie. not parking themselves in front of the altar for the entire ceremony) we will be just fine! Just be aware that we will most likely show up in each others shots from time to time.
You can find my Videographer recommendations in my info pack I email when you enquire.

Do you do albums?

Yes, you can add a beautiful leather cover album to any of the packages. A professional wedding album is one you’ll be proud to show off for years to come!  After an investment in your wedding day, your photos deserve to be on display in the most beautiful way possible.
You can find examples, info and prices on my Flush-mount Wedding Albums here - https://www.carlamitchellphotography.co.nz/wedding-albums/

Do you give the RAWs?

I don't because editing is half the process/magic that goes into images, and without that huge step the images are only halfway done. I promise to never leave any photos out that you’ll want/need, and if you feel I missed delivering a photo, just ask! I’m more than happy to check back through my images and send it over for you. I wont let you miss out on any memories!

Do we have the rights to print and share our phots?

Absolutely. You can print your photos wherever you like and you can share them anywhere your heart desires. Your gallery is linked to a professional print lab so I suggest you utilise this rather than printing them at a cheap store that will not represent the colours and tones accurately and will not last for years to come.
I love it when you post on social media, and would also love if you give me photo credit and a link back to my page. Please don't add any additional filters or alter them in any way.

How do we book you?

Head over to my contact page and send me a message. I will then be in touch to let you know my availability and would love to catch up over coffee or on Skype to hear more about your big day! If you feel confident that I am the right photographer for you, we can find the package that fits, sign a contract and pay a 20% deposit.
You can then relax and know I will be there with my cameras and extremely privileged to capture your special day.
